The Law of Mastery

Think of an amazing body... envision it in all its magnificence…I'll bet you that body, the person who owns that body, is good at something. It is likely something physical - they are an athlete, an artist...they own a craft or a skill. That skill might just be exercise but they are really good at it in their own special way.

The reason people with amazing bodies have amazing bodies is because their body is an effect. It is the result of their commitment to being really good at something. Their body is a gift of mastery.

The gift of mastery applies equally to the wonderful people with beautiful minds and exceptional creative talents. The wise among us practice for hours, putting in rep after rep, breath after breath, and line after line to conceive breakthroughs in science, works of art, and words of wisdom. Their mind is a gift of mastery.

Unconventional Mastery

Does this mean we must write a book or run a marathon to find our best self...of course not. We can, however, use the techniques of masters to improve our own learning and advance our skills and abilities. Progress is not a competition, it is a collaboration between your mind and body...a coordinated effort of inside and outside work required to be your best self.

The reason my program features a combination of kettlebell training and pilates training is because the combination of these two modalities give a very complete profile coverage of the Exercise and Innercise matrix AND they make it easy to leverage the law of mastery in your training practice.

In other words, working toward mastery in these two modalities is a very clear path to becoming a Good Mover, with a great body. Because they are;

  1. Both Fun and challenging to Practice
  2. An Integrated approach to mobility and strength training
  3. Kettlebell is the world #1 evolutionary movement and vertical strength tool
  4. Pilates Contrology build deep core strength and teaches how to make healthy spine shapes

The roots of health and fitness systems followed for the Unconventional Man are as follows:

Kettlebell Samurai Method - Ajamu Bernard

Return to Life through Contrology - Joseph Pilates

Breathwork Practices

Fascia Rolling and Stretching - YTU method

Each of these systems can stand alone and are capable of creating quality changes to your vital signs and movement skills. Yet, each is stronger in some aspect of exercise or Innercise than the others.

Once these systems are woven together, the result is…exceptional.
